The PCC Peace Office is committed to Nonviolence and Constructive Conflict Transformation. Our approach always imcludes the work on attitudes and behavior on individual and group levels and makes structural violence visible through deeper insights into conflict and power dynamics and structural injustice. The Peace Office has decided to offer their services as facilitators to all PCC Staff.

In order to follow the PCC’s approach to become a role model of living Christian values like compassion, nonviolence, love, empathy and reconciliation we are enthusiastic offering you facilitation by an experienced international trainer-team and facilitation material free of charge!

All participants who successfully completed a workshop, will get an attestation certified by the head od Communication Department Reverend Thomas Mbue Mokoko.

You can choose out of our workshop ideas which could be the appropriate one for your causes. If you already know the training needs of the potential participants, you also have the possibility to propose your ideas to the Peace Office, so they can set up a training schedule that meets your needs.

Nonviolence and Conflict Transformation Workshops

The PCC Peace Office’s workshops offer tools for unleashing the power and possibility of nonviolent change in our lives, our communities, and our society. Using story-telling, exercises, role-plays, small and large group discussions, short presentations and journaling, these workshops explore the vision, principles and concrete tools of Conflict transformation and active nonviolence.

Most workshops are available in half-day, one-day, two-day, three-day and weekend formats.

Workshop Examples:

  1. NONVIOLENT COMMUNICATION

Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of Non Violent Communication says that as human beings, more often than not, intentionally or otherwise we tend to speak the language of the jackal, one of judgment, blame and disconnect.
“It’s not me, it’s him/her that has to change” is what we proclaim.
NVC is a language with a difference. It’s about learning to communicate with compassion towards self and others. It’s about relating with oneself and others through empathy leading to trust and nurture.
It follows a 4 step process based on Observation, Feeling, Need and Request. The current module is a 2 hour module designed for the staff of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.

  1. BASIC COURSE CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION

Ultimately, the responsibility for conflict transformation lies with individuals and their individual responsibility and decisions to act so as to promote peace rather than violence, and the principle of hope.Conflict transformation is the process by which conflicts, such as ethnic conflict, are transformed into peaceful outcomes. It differs from conflict resolution and conflict management approaches in that it recognises “that contemporary conflicts require more than the reframing of positions and the identification of win-win outcomes. The very structure of parties and relationships may be embedded in a pattern of conflictual relationships that extend beyond the particular site of conflict. Conflict transformation is therefore a process of engaging with and transforming the relationships, interests, discourses and, if necessary, the very constitution of society that supports the continuation of violent conflict

In our 2-3 day courses we are dealing with conflicts, violence, nonviolence, communication and perspectives. Always fitted to the main issues of the participating groups.

  1. NONVIOLENT CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN SCHOOLS

This course is designed for school administration and teachers. It is about analyzing the situation of violence and the strengthening of resources that are helpful in eradicating the violence. It is also about exchanging tools, best practices and exploring Alternatives to Violence as a form of disciplining children.

  1. TRAINING OF TRAINERS CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION (ToT) (at least 5 days!!!)

It is extremely important of having people in the PCC who can pass on knowledge about Conflict transformation without the assistance of the Peace Office. That is why we want to train trainers in methods, voice, body language and give room to experiment with your own capacity in planning, organizing and doing a training. Naturally, the basics or advanced knowledge (depending on the experience of the participants) of Conflict Transformation are also being communicated.
